  • The recent diplomatic mission to the USA showcased Odisha’s potential in the electronics and IT sector, garnering international attention.

2. Robust Infrastructure: Bhubaneswar boasts supportive IT enclaves like Infocity and Info valley, enhancing its appeal to IT companies.

  • Cognizant’s large-scale facility in Bhubaneswar, spanning 52,000 sqft, signifies the city’s capability to accommodate significant IT ventures.

3. Skilled Talent Pool: The city has gained recognitiom for its skilled workforce, nurtured through proactive government initiatives in IT education and skill development.

  • Presence of consulting giants like PwC, Deloitte, and EY along with IT majors like TCS, Infy, TechM, Wipro etc in Bhubaneswar underscores its appeal to industry leaders, indicating the availability of high-caliber talent.

4. Cost-Effective Operations: Lower operational costs compared to traditional tech hubs make Bhubaneswar an attractive destination for IT ventures.

  • Bhubaneswar’s lower living costs and lack of traffic congestion provide a conducive environment for tech innovation and business growth.

5. Strategic Location: Positioned on the east coast, Bhubaneswar has historical trade and cultural relations with Southeast Asia. Better connectivity with Middle East and Domestic has enhanced its attractiveness to businesses.

  • While hosting over 200 IT firms, Bhubaneswar may need to enhance its visibility and reputation in the global IT landscape.

2. Infrastructure Development: Ongoing development efforts may be necessary to support the city’s expanding IT industry effectively.

  • Continued investment in infrastructure development is crucial to sustain the growth of Bhubaneswar’s IT ecosystem and keep it ahead of the curve.

Opportunities:

    One of the low hanging fruit is to Build an Active Odia Community by doing Government Funded Large Scale Events at Bhubaneswar/Puri (“Like they do in Vegas”). Idea is to bring Odia’s within and outside country under one roof.

    1. Excellent point. Sentiments of our diaspora to strengthen their roots and contribute in the growth of their native state should be leveraged, and this needs systemic channeling and platforming.
